In 1947 TVR was introduced by Jack Pickard and Trevor Wilkinson and named Trevcar Motors, and later on it was renamed. TVR demonstrated to be a sporty car. Afterwards, TVR motors made use of a 4 cylinder motor to power the 100 horse car and majority of these cars were sold in the English markets. For the period of first two decades, TVR presented several cars as a kit car model but this was finished after the regime held in the 70s.

An American car dealer named Jack Griffith thought an unusual scheme and for this purpose he took a 4.7 Liter V8 engine out of his car and built up it into a TVR car. TVR employed a number of engines ahead of finally settling back in on a Ford engine that was adept of about 130 horses and by far adjusted for further hoses as well.

In 70s, several engines were designed and vehicles had different options to select from.

In the beginning of 1980s, the company paid attention towards the performance and power of V8, this focus separated it from V6 based technology and engines. This improvement brought high capacity range from 3.5L to 4.5L and suggested the vehicle a rush toward horsepower.

In 1990, company proceeded with V8’s and used Rover as a supplier. After that they changed and updated them according to their requirements and developed their own engine designs that included light weight alloy based V8 engine and it was an easy solution.

In 2004, a Russian man named Smolensky bought this company and decided to keep TVR in GB. On the other hand, in 2006 this company came to an end due to the declining sales. After that a new company was established and it lacked the ample assets for more recent technologies. Later on the products of this company were outsourced to Italy but finally Smolensky divided TVR into three different companies. Current affairs are still in much chaos.
