Toyota was fined by the U.S. government for USD17.350.000; this is because Toyota delays recall on 154,036 units of the Lexus RX 350 and 2010 RX 450h SUV after a problem with the pedal.
Toyota also agreed to make internal changes to ensure the quality and safety-related reviews in the U.S. Writes the National Institute of Highway Traffic Safety (NHTSA) in the U.S.
A penalty of USD17.350.000 is the maximum fine under the U.S. law. This is the highest record number of fines ever paid to NHTSA recall due to violations of the case.
“With today’s announcement, I expect Toyota to rigorously reinforce its commitment to adhering to United States safety regulations,” said Ray LaHood, U.S. Transportation Secretary, quoted from Insideline.
Toyota said it agreed to pay the fine. This was done to avoid the disputes that take a long time. Toyota will focus entirely on the commitment along with the NHTSA for driver and passenger security.
