In spite of its insane conceptual looks, this Renault Twizy is actually on its way to a showroom near you early ext year. And it’s already has a price tag and everything.

The Twizy is an electric-powered urban commuter, a four-wheel scooter with a steering wheel and a roof, which has a 17 hp AC motor that gives it a top speed of 50 mph. It is a nice tool for nipping around town, but like other cars of this type it looks absolutely ridiculous and undignified. Still, it’s better than a G-wiz since it’s a trendy thing.

Twizy goes on sale in the UK at the start of next year and will be manufactured at Valladolid in Spain. Base price for this vehicle starts form from £6,690. In higher specification Technic trim it will cost £7,400. The monthly battery lease cost for both versions will be £40 including VAT for a 36 month/4,500 miles per year agreement. Renault will have two versions of Twizy on display at the Barcelona Motor Show, both powered by a 17hp motor: Urban and Technic. The no-fuss, practical all-electric vehicle
Twizy’s battery fully charges in just three and a half hours using a domestic electrical supply via a spiral cable stowed behind a flap at the front. Twizy’s low weight (450kg, including the 100kg battery) directly helps its operational range of 62 miles (NEDC standard cycle). In everyday use, this figure can vary depending on driving conditions.
