Putting trendy new cars on display at trendy new shops is becoming a new trend in the trendy parts of Britain! The latest car to take advantage of this malarkey is the Renault Twizy.

A Twizy will be lighting up the flagship Conran Shop window to celebrate 25 years in the Michelin building and the grand opening of the London Design Festival. Fresh on the back of July’s Red Dot Award for Best of the Best Product Design in Germany, the eye-catching Renault will be on display at the iconic Chelsea store in Fulham Road from 6th September to 20th October.

Now if you have no idea what a Twizy is, it is first-ever fully electric urban compact two-seater, combining bold design and bright styling while being incredibly fun and easy to drive. As a concept it’ brilliant. But it’s catastrophically embarrassing to be seen in one of these.

Renault press release:

Andy Heiron, Renault UK’s Head of Electric Vehicles Programme, said: “The unique Twizy has been attracting a lot of interest this summer, especially in London, and I’m sure it will look stunning in the The Conran Shop window for its 25-year anniversary celebrations and the Design Festival.

“Not only does it look the part, but the driving experience of a purely electric vehicle, combined with the financial and environmental benefits of making the switch gives Twizy mass appeal.”

The 10th annual London Design Festival, from 14th to 23rd September, is the perfect stage for the striking red Twizy to hit the famous window of The Conran Shop, which offers a complete range of design classics, vintage ‘one-off’ furniture pieces and practical and fun accessories.

The Conran Shop RED exhibition will include works by over 40 designers including Jasper Morrison, Thomas Heatherwick, Nendo, John Pawson, Ingo Maurer, Marcel Wanders, Raw Edges and Alexander Taylor. Inspired by the iconic British Pillar Box, each piece has been specially commissioned for The Conran Shop or specially produced in a red colour-way to celebrate 25 years at the Michelin Building.

First staged in 2003, the London Design Festival (londondesignfestival.com) is one of the world’s most important annual design events. The programme is made up of over 300 events and exhibitions showcasing the city’s pivotal role in global design.
