The 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 hybrid is Chevy’s 4-door crew cab version of its large pickup truck. It has a seating capacity of 6 passengers and features a bed that’s 5.8 ft. long.

The hybrid is powered by a 6.0 liter V8 engine that works with a 332 hp electric motor, with the capability of running on either or both power sources, depending on the circumstances. In either case, plug-in charging is not required.

This Hybrid uses CVT or a continuously variable transmission that functions like an automatic. It has a four-wheel drive system that can either have a full-time setup (which allows it to be engaged on dry pavement) or a low-range gear (designed for those for off-road driving scenarios), as well as a rear wheel drive system. Both systems give the hybrid a maximum of 6,100 lbs max towing capacity.

There are two interior designs that the hybrid can have: it’s either the “pure pickup” design or “luxury inspired” design.

Safety features of the hybrid include ABS, antiskid system, traction control, as well as front and curtain-side airbags. The antilock brake system (ABS) prevents wheels from getting locked when you hit the brakes, which would otherwise make you lose control over your vehicle in those cases. The antiskid system, as the name suggests, effectively mitigates skids when the Silverado loses grip. However, skids are less likely to happen thanks to the Silverado’s traction control, which always keeps the grip in check. The front-side and curtain-side airbags virtually keeps the passengers safe when inside the car.

It also has a navigation system, rearview camera, rear obstacle detection, adjustable power pedals, leather upholstery, a sunroof, and power-folding mirrors.

You’ll find the navigation system useful for most instances, thanks to its road database and GPS functions. It helps to consult the system for planning your drive routes not only for long trips, but even for you day-to-day drives from home to work and vice-versa

Use the rearview camera and rear obstacle detection for safer and more accurate backing or parking. The rearview gives you a better look at what otherwise could be your blind spots and the rear obstacle detection makes sure you don’t miss out on anything that might be in your way.

Adjustable power pedals and the power folding mirrors are features that make controlling your car and making adjustments on it much easier. On the other hand, the leather upholstery and the sunroof make for a better environment inside the car.

There have been a couple tests and evaluations conducted for the Silverado Hybrid. Generally, the results show that the four-wheel drive hybrid rates a total of 67 compared to the average 62.5 that a large pickup truck gets.
