Guide to VW Polo Tuning
The very first VW Polo was launched in 1974. Since then, it has gone through four generation of VW Polo. A series or Mark no. is used for its recognition. The VW Polo is actually a Sedan car and it comprises of similar features like other compact and average priced cars. It is the second smallest car of Volkswagen and it is slightly larger than the VW Golf. The size has increased in the later models with the passage of time.
The Mark Polo IVF has an honor of receiving many awards like the junior rally championship. In 2006, the GTI version of Polo Mark IVF was launched which was similar to the modern Golf GTI having a top speed of 134 mph.
Taking care is of utmost important before tuning VW Polo. One has to get the right version prepared in exact time. If one plans to tune his car then Polo Mark IV is the right option to consider. Looking at different variants will confuse but the poor quality of 1 L engine is not an option because it will give trouble afterwards. The rest of the engine types are fine and 1.8L will be wonderful.
It does not matter if it’s Golf or Polo but the most reliable and best alteration will be with the exhaust system and the air filter. Upgrading the panel filter with 104 or even with 108T is not needed. This upgrade can be opted if one has a low budget for upgrading it to a powerful engine. If one wants to do such then a 1.8T can be found if the originally 1.4 has been bought.
Some steps have to taken during tuning otherwise it can create further problems. Suspension is the first thing as VW Polo is elevated more than it should be. This problem can be solved by lowering the strut to nearly 42mm. The car’s center if gravity will be maintained by doing this and it will result in better handling and stability. Besides this, firmer springs can be chosen to make the feel of the car stable. A better option can be to attach a changeable suspension if one can afford it.
For improving the lower VW Polo and for boosting its handling, one should be careful in using 18” wheels. Something smaller can also be done but 18” will look better. Good quality tires with the wheels must be surely used. Advanced tires might be expensive but they are better in the long run.
