Electric Mercedes A-Class E-Cell
The latest car to feature Mercedes Benz’ advanced E-Cell electric powertrain is the A-Class.
As a five-door five-seater hatchback, the A-Class is a very fine city car, versatile and practical, so it is a good candidate to receive the treatment as it spends most of its time in cities and is used for family use.
This E-Cell is nothing like the big one they put in the SLS E-Cell! It only generates 95 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, but that’s enough for its type and provides 125 miles of trouble and emission-free driving with every charge.
During the fist phase a total production run of 500 A-Class E-CELL cars will be built at Rastatt from autumn 2010. The vehicles will be leased to selected customers in several European countries, including Germany, France and the Netherlands.
