Chevrolet 2010 Sales Up By 16 Percent
Well, the reconstruction of General Motors and making it a leaner meaner company which resulted in killing some great brands like Pontiac was apparently the right decision!
Based on the financial reports for last year, Chevrolet recorded a total of 144,005 U.S. sales in December, an increase of 6 percent over the same month a year ago. That includes a 16 percent increase in retail sales, Chevrolet’s best retail sales month since Cash for Clunkers in August 2009.
Chevrolet sold a total of 1.6 million vehicles in 2010, passing Toyota to become the second-largest brand in the United States.
This growth is expected to continue in the new year with the introduction of new and updated models. Compared to 2009, Chevrolet sold an additional 217,048 vehicles, which is more than the expected total sales for BMW in 2010.
“For 2010, we experienced strong demand across the Chevrolet portfolio of cars, trucks and utilities,” said Alan Batey, vice president, Chevrolet Sales and Service. “With the addition of the Chevrolet Cruze in the fourth quarter, we are confident that Chevrolet’s momentum will continue in 2011.”
