2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe Standard
Ever since BMW tiny 1 Series was launched, an M edition has been anticipated. The tii notion car displayed at the Tokyo motor show in 2007 was the topforerunner, and allthe web logs on the internet havehardly quieted down from the time on. A fairly big question waswhat they would call it.Those enthusiastic about the millennium might think about M1, but mature peopleknow that this name wasgiven to the first contemporary mid-engine supercar by BMW, so this name was set aside for a more marvelousvehicle than the cheapest M car. Therefore, it will be nicknamed 1 Series M Coupe.
This name is also linked to the latest M true ancestor, the unconventional2-seat Z3 and Z4 M Coupes. It is approximately a foot longer;it is big enough for four individuals, and is a few hundred lbs.heavier. However, in its bold styling and slender, chillyperformance it passes the fatherhoodcheck. BMW has not announced many authorized details about the new 1 M (it usually breaks cover in January in Detroit).During a late tech-day appointmentin Munich, the engineers allowed a quick test drive and they either acknowledged or nudged and winked at thisinformation:
The engine is an N54 twin-turbo 3.0-liter 6that is closely connected to thatin the Z4 sDrive35is. Transferring 11.6 psi (which increases to 14.5 for up to 7 seconds of extra boost), the turbos assistthe production of almost 340 climaxHP, with torque reaching near 370 pounds-feet. This is 74 less horses yet 75 more lbs.-ft. of coil than the M3 V-8 makes. The weight is said to bealmost equal to the 135i’s. This should mean that the 1 M has a weight-to-power rating equivalent to the rating of the preceding M coupes but with a muchimproved weight-to-torque than even an M3.
Considering the driveline and transmission,a 6-speed manual is going to be the sole transmission presented, and it is expected that its ratios are going to be the same as those of the M3 shift stick. The M3 Variable M Differential lock,rear-end is an element in the deal as well.
