How to Replace Rear Lights in a 1990 Volvo

Replacing the rear lights of a vehicle is considered as the most common maintenance task. It may need replacement due to bulb when it pops otherwise because of the entire lens damaged. Here is described how to replace rear lights in a1990 Volvo.

Things you’ll need:

The specific things you will require include:

  • 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set
  • Replacement bulbs
  • Replacement lens

Step 1:

First of all go off the trunk and then position the taillight access panel in the carpet openly at the back each lens. You will find there two knobs on the door so you have to turn them in anticlockwise direction and then take away the panel.

Step 2:

Now unclip the taillight light bulb cluster assembly and remove all the clips with your hands to do this. After doing this, all the wiring as well as the bulbs will come out in just one movement.

Step 3:

Next remove the broken bulb by turning it in anticlockwise direction, and then pull it out of the housing with your hands.

Step 4:

Now put the new bulb in the socket and turn it in clockwise direction to bring into line the pins on the bulb sides. In case if you just have to substitute this damaged bulb, then you can repair it at this point.

Step 5:

Now take a 3/8-inch ratchet and unbolt the taillight lens with it. Four bolts are there to safe the housing in place to the body.

Step 6:

Next use 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets to install the replacement housing

Step 7:

Finally replace in the reverse arrange of installation.
