Lawn Mower Racing is a famous as well as inexpensive sport. If you are thinking of building your own racing Lawn Mower, the investment would be pretty low. Building a Lawn Mower is pretty simple and following steps can be followed by anyone.

Things you’ll need:

  • Sandblaster
  • Angle grinder
  • Welder
  • Drill
  • T Drives
  • Jigsaw
  • Brake parts for installing the braking system

Getting Started

First of you should find an old mower from somewhere and then remove every parts from it. You should be left with just the chassis and nothing else. If there is rust or dust on the surface of the chassis, you can remove them using the sandblast.

Making the chassis Stronger

Next, you should strengthen the chassis and for that you may employ metals. If you are not an experienced person in this regard, you can seek the help of someone who knows what is this all about. He should know how to weld as well.

Making Ready the Back Axle

It’s better to give preference to quality this time. So, consult an automobile engineering company and seek their help in setting up a good back axle for your racing Lawn Mower.

Next, you should cut out the engine plate. You should use the right set of tools while you do this. Otherwise, it won’t look good once you finish up the work. It’s better to seek the help of a jigsaw, a hole saw and a drill. Now get an engine, some tires, and also a steering set from some near auto workshop. You can find them on Internet as well. You can even buy them from your local market for a pretty cheap price. Daily newspapers usually have a classified section where you could find a section where they list such thing for sale. Don’t spend too much on these spare parts – try to get them for as cheap as you can.

Assembling and Welding

Now, it’s time to do some assembling works. First, take the steering set and weld it to the chassis at the right place. If you are doing these things yourself, make sure you are with materials that will protect you. At least wear goggles while doing these kind of works. After that, fit the wheels, tires and back axle. Next, you should fit a brake calliper. Once you complete that task, do arrangements for clutch, accelerator and brake. Then fit the engine at the right place and after that weld the steering set as well at the right place where you think it would be good.
