The hybrid-loving Americans can now order the latest luxurious model as BMW puts the new Activehybrid 7 on sale.
It is the hybrid version of their 7-series flagship saloon which is kinda like a no compromise car, because you still get bucket-load of power while it also manages to be green.
The car’s hybrid system consisting of an electric motor with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and new 8-speed automatic transmission, develops 455 PS (335 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm). That means this big sedan can do 0 – 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds while delivering impressive EPA fuel economy estimates of 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. That’s about 20 percent more efficient than an equivalent 750i model.
And to encourage people into buying cars like this US government is giving them huge tax advantages. And The Internal Revenue Service certified that the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 qualifies for up to a $900 tax credit under the Alternative Motor Vehicle provision.
Despite this the car still has a whopping sticker price of $103,125. And if you want the Long Wheel Base version, that’ll be $107,025.
There’s also some extra options and packages you can order for the car:
* Camera Package $350 o Side view cameras * Cold Weather Package $800 o Heated steering wheel & rear seats * Driver Assistance Package $1,350 o Automatic high beams, lane departure warning, active blind spot detection
