2012 Porsche 911 Carrera revealed
New cars from Porsche, “2012 Porsche 911 Carrera” will be display at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 next September.
The wheelbase 100 mm longer, the front track wider, redesigned door mirrors and height reduction combined with up to 20 inch wheels are remarkable. At the same time, the typical dimensions of sport compact cars are kept outside. The all-new, lightweight body is a smart aluminum-steel construction.
Porsche’s designers created an interior, whose architecture is inspired by the Porsche Carrera GT. The controller is now much more integrated with the cockpit through the center console up in the front with the shifter mounted on top or the gear selector is located near the steering wheel. The instrument has a set of five round instruments – one a high resolution multifunction display, the central rev counter and lock on to the steering wheel.
Fuel consumption and emissions are up to 16 percent lower compared to its predecessor. This is achieved by the systems and functions such as Auto Start / Stop, thermal management, recovery of the electrical system, the first seven-speed manual transmission and – in conjunction with the Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) – Sailing as it is called .
2012 Porsche 911 Carrera with PDK can accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds. Pressing the Sport Plus the optional Sport Chrono cuts that to 4.1 seconds. The 911 Carrera PDK needs just 4.6 seconds (4.4 seconds Sport Plus) to sprint from standstill to 100 km / h.
Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilization is available for the first time in the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera. The system reduces the lateral tilt during cornering, the tires are always in the optimum position relative to the road surface and is capable of transmitting high lateral forces. High cornering speeds are increasing even faster lap time in the circuits are possible.
The launch of the new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera will take place on December 3, 2011, new cars can be booked from 1 September. Prices in Germany € 88.038 for the Carrera 911 and € 102,436 for the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S.
