2012 Jaguar Range At Motorexpo
Jaguar will be bringing to its upgraded range of 2012 models to Motorexpo, held at Canary Wharf between June 6 and 12.
The new Jaguar line up combining fresh new styling, greater performance and greater efficiency than ever before and includes the lightly revised XK and XJ, and the heavily revised XF models. The new XF as you may know has adopted an XJ kind of look at front which makes it more luxurious but quite a bit less sporty.
Also on display will be the fastest Jaguar production car ever produced, the 186 mph XKR-S as well as the most efficient Jaguar yet created, the XF 2.2. The XKR-S is a race-inspired version of the XKR and the XF 2.2 is equipped with a brand-new diesel engine and an eight-speed transmission that makes it one of the most economical mid-size luxury sedans in the market.
More details on each model in the press release below:
XF style updates and new engine
The XF range sees a new look and a new powertrain from September 2011. A new four cylinder 2.2-litre diesel engine promises to deliver the refinement and performance expected of a Jaguar yet is capable of delivering over 50 mpg and a range in excess of 800 miles.
As well as changes under the bonnet, the XF has been given a fresh look with modified interior and exterior styling. Drawing on the latest Jaguar design language applied to the XJ, the new XF is characterised by an entirely new front end with slim new headlight units featuring LED lighting strips and a larger, more upright grille. The changes continue on the rear as the car tail lamp units have been redesigned with LED technology.
A subtle refresh has been applied to the award-winning interior of the XF with colour central and dial-mounted screens relaying reprogrammed navigation and entertainment software. Redesigned seats offer a sportier look and greater support.
The new XF will go on sale in September with prices starting at £30,950 for the 2.2-litre diesel engine rising to £65,350 for the XFR.
XK RANGE ENTENDED WITH XKR-S
The new 2012 XK range is headed by the dramatic XKR-S. The XKR-S produces 550PS and 680Nm of torque, enough power to offer a top speed of 186mph (300km/h). Its performance credentials speak for themselves: 0-60mph takes 4.2 seconds, with 0-100mph dismissed in just 8.6 seconds. This all-new model significantly broadens the appeal of the XK range, offering enthusiastic drivers a compelling, fresh choice in the luxury GT class.
For the XK and XKR, the most significant changes take place at the front with a set of slimmer headlight units with subtle LED running lights. These sit above a new, larger oval grille framed in chrome with mesh in the centre that, in the case of the XKR, is finished in black.
Making the XK appear both longer and lower is a new horizontal vent and chrome blade mounted on each wing. Chrome detailing is continued at the rear with a revised, thinner strip featuring a Jaguar leaper badge with is added to the XK for the 2012 range.
At the rear of the car new taillights using LED technology sit either side of a thinner chrome strip and, debuting for the first time on an XK, a Jaguar leaper badge.
Inside the new XK range the interior has been given a freshen-up with new trim finishes and, for the first time, the option of sculpted leather sports seats.
As with the outgoing range, the new XK and XKR will both be available in convertible form while the new XKR-S coupé sits at the top of the range. All models go on sale in the UK in September with prices starting at £65,000 for the XK coupé rising to £97,000 for the XKR-S.
